2012

Well, a new year....

2011 was a very interesting year. A lot happened. A lot of things are different than this time last year. Everyone's growing up. People are moving away. Dreams are big and daunting and begging to be chased.

I've seen a lot of changes this past year in my own life. I hope 2012 holds a lot of changes as well, but positive ones, proactive ones.

One thing I want for 2012 is to be more active on this site and challenge myself with the amount of time I spend taking photos and the continuality of it.

So, for 2012, I am going to update everyday with a new picture. I'm hoping this will stretch me.

Well Twenny Twelve, I'm listening.

Civil Wars || 1knewb

Kaitlyn and I drove up to Milwaukee last April to see the Civil Wars at Turner Ballroom. Easily one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. And easily the best Tuesday night all of Spring semester. We got lost and were half an hour late, but somehow ended up right in front of the stage. 1knewb is my favorite concert buddy.

Breathe Owl Breathe 04/12

Went to see Breathe Owl Breathe last year with a bunch of freshman. Got to show them one of my favorite places  in Chicago: Schuba's. It's an old church turned bar and music venue.

Breathe Owl Breathe was a really fun show. And Rach was so superfan. We got a picture of her and the gang with the singer in the background. Classic.

Miltown 12/14

Spent just about half a day visiting the home of some of my favorite people. Got to see a pretty good number of the Milwaukee crowd, and got to (finally) go to the Milwaukee Art Museum, which I was really excited about despite the fact that the building is vaguely reminiscent of a whale...but let's not dwell on that.

Got to hang out with Tim and Soph and mess around in the museum.

Too Much Avett...If that's possible.

Music: In Your Light by Timothy Seth Avett as Darling
Two back-to-back nights of Avett Brothers shows. In Milwaukee. It was such an unbelievable weekend. Got to see the ever-hospitable Chris for another weekend of fun, and got to see a couple more of my Milwaukee people. Carolyn came up for the show on Saturday, which was so fun to finally experience one of our favorite bands together.

I was in ecstasy at these shows. If you know me, you know my two favorite things are the Avett Brothers and photography. This was my first show of theirs that I was able to bring my camera. And I was so happy. Ask Chris or Carolyn--they'll tell you.

I might put more up from this show some other time. It was so hard to pick just a few.

Posts will likely increase as finals approach.  Best wishes.

Vic + Jo + Sunglasses

Music: The Winner Is by Devotchka
Did a photo shoot with Jo for our History of Graphic Design project on Glamour Magazine. The sophmores were down in studio working on Photo I Final Projects and I forced Vic to take a couple shots, too.

Can't believe the semester is over on Friday. Studio will feel so different once Alyssa and Kyle graduate on Saturday. We're so lucky to have gotten to share a creative space with them. 401 won't be the same without them.

I digress...
