One day

|| Music: Zac Brown Band -- Colder Weather ||

Okay, so occasionally country music plays and I don't immediately slam the radio off.

Call me sentimental, but this one really got to me. Especially the end.

It's a shame about the weather.
I know soon we'll be together,
and I can't wait 'til then.

I miss these people and this time more than I'd ever thought possible.
Fort Wilderness is my heart, my home.
And these people are as much my family as anyone.

About Connections

|| Music: Young The Giant -- Body ||

So last weekend, all my pictures got corrupted.  I was super disheartened, so I haven't updated.

I pray you accept my apologies.

I'll be better about that.

Fittingly enough, I also want to be better about connections. Isn't everything about connections?

|| Music: Youth Lagoon -- Daydream ||

All my pictures from the weekend that I was going to use to make up for the fact I haven't put anything on here in days got deleted. Rats.

Anyway.

Let's pretend I'm in San Francisco, not Antarctica.

Friends on my bed

|| Music: The World Spins Madly On--The Weepies ||

I miss my room. I miss Christmas break. And this.

I love waking up with friends all around my house.

|| Music: Sirens and Helicopters--The Bank Robber ||

Went to the Shedd on MLK.

They had an exhibit (that seems like the wrong term) on jellyfish.

Pretty cool. I was probably too excited about seeing Cassiopeia.

18 days of studying marine bio in the FL keys turns you into a big nerd.

|| Music: Cold Summer--Seabear ||

Spent the day in Chicago with my mom and sister yesterday.

Went to the Shedd. First time since I was maybe 5.

We had to wait outside for an hour since it was a free day, but it wasn't too horrible.

Lots of kids being cute and happy to not be in school.

Boring Blog? Put a bird on it.

|| Music: Too Much Food--Jason Mraz ||

Went to the Shedd with my momma and sister today.  Got to see some cool sea animals.

Might put those up later.

Been listening to Jason Mraz a lot today. I can't believe how many lyrics I can still remember.

|| Music: The sounds of my computer overheating ||

I have a kitchen at school where I could cook/bake anything I wanted.

But there's just something great about cooking in a home.

It doesn't make me a better cook, but it feels better.

Impromptu cookie making at 10PM after a mostly-kidding open-ended twitter invite.
Emma and Kellan came from an hour and a half away. Lamy came from the next street over.

Poppas

|| Music: Tighter--Fitz and the Tantrums ||

Over break, my family spent a day in Chicago together.

While we were out, I had a very heart-stopping incident.

Long story short, I thought the lens of my camera shattered.

My father, who happens to have an extensive background in photography, was able to tell that it was actually just the lens filter and alleviated the instant nausea I felt when I saw the cracked glass. My father, obviously also slightly horrified by the turn of events, was there with me when I was testing to see if the camera was still able to focus. His face is perfect. Sorry, Dad.

John Green

|| Music: The sounds of roommates studying and my sticky keyboard clacking ||

Last Friday I got to hear one of my favorite living authors speak about his book that came out on Tuesday.

I read the book in about 6 hours. It is a triumph in literature in my opinion, and I highly suggest that you read it: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

I knew from prior knowledge that he was funny, but the guy should do stand up. I had the privilege of being front row and making the interview talk show version of Concert Friends with the other nerds who got there early. Found out the girl sitting next to me and I went to high school together.

Whoops.

|| Music: Breakin' the Chains of Love--Fitz and the Tantrums ||

Welp, forgot to post yesterday. A new semester will do that to you, I suppose.

I am getting really excited for this semester. Hard classes, but in a good way.

Finally ready to put Christmas break to rest and do some work.

Remember payphones?

6 of 8

|| Music: On a Neck, On a Spit--Grizzly Bear ||

My first class of the semester was cancelled. So I'm still on Christmas break until 4 o'clock.

Then begins 6 of 8.

S S S S S M M M M M

|| Music: Light--The Album Leaf ||

Headed back to school in a few hours.

Gotta change the oil, clean the car and pack.  Maybe I'm forgetting everything, but I can only think of a few things I need to take.

As some kind of unexplained, unwritten rule to our friendship, Scott and I never have pictures together. If this is the best we can do, maybe there's a reason we don't have many....

But we got a couple yesterday hanging out in Chicago. I think these bring the total up to maybe 7.

Snowpaccolypse, Part 5: Everyone loves a group shot.

|| Music: Holocene--Bon Iver ||

The group. Some couples. And, later,  a LOT of excitement.

Snowpaccolypse, Part 4: Allie

|| Music: Welcome Home--Radical Face ||

Radical Face is good anytime of year, anytime of day.

Just hung out with high school friends, and, as expected, it decended into discussing our old peers.

Who's married. Who's gay. Who's super successful. Who's a hot mess.

It's nuts how the people we grew up with are now adults. I feel like I'm still growing up.

And my friends are getting married. Or are married and expecting a baby.

A BABY. I feel like I am a baby.

Anyway, Allie's going to be a hot mom.

Snowpaccolypse, Part 3: Morgan

|| Music: Mary--Kings of Leon ||

I made a playlist of songs that all have my name as the title.

Winter break...I have too much time.

Jan 5, 2012

Snowpaccolypse, Part 2: Emma

|| Music: Afternoon--Youth Lagoon ||

Snow Day shoot last January.

The fair Emma, my most trusted model.

Jan 4, 2012

Snowpaccolypse, Part 1: Alex

|| Music: Inches and Falling -- The Format ||

I figure I should balance out all of the summer pictures with some winter ones.

Photoshoot with Allie, Emma, Morgan, and Alex the day the snow began to fall that developed into the craziest snow storm I can remember. 22 inches overnight or something like that, but became 8' snow drifts. This was just after it started coming down.

Alex first. Alphabetical order I suppose.

My Favorite Nordic

|| Music: About Love--Timothy Seth Avett as Darling ||

Photo-a-day is going to be a bit difficult considering my main lens is in the repair shop getting cleaned...

So for the next week or so, it's probably going to be older stuff I haven't gotten to.

Maybe one day this will be more relevant.

Here are a bunch of pictures of Scott Ahearn, as requested/promised.

This kid is crazy. Ruined a lot of nice shots of campers by jumping in front of them and making a face.
Gotta love him. Hopefully I'll get to visit him in Norway this summer.
